The delicious symbol of hospitality, the pineapple is one of my favourite designs. It's grown pretty much everywhere in India from Kerala to Bihar but it also plays an important role in English decoration from Georgian times onwards. Its Anglo-Indian history is part of its appeal for me - grown extensively through the days of the Raj, a fresh pineapple was used at doorways as a symbol of welcome. Here it shows up a metre high as a super-large mirror in warm and sophisticated matt gold.
