To all our amazing customers around the world,
We are so grateful to live in a country with the NHS, furloughing and where Bombay Duck’s happy homewares are still managing to be delivered and brighten up these dark days.
Our hearts go out to everyone so deeply affected by this pandemic, it is truly devastating for the whole world. Here at Bombay Duck we care deeply about the poor in India, where so many live without the safety net we enjoy.
We are doing our utmost to help where the need is most acute. The city of Moradabad, in Uttar Pradesh, is 5 hours drive from Delhi and is the centre for all metal production. Life there is very hard. The muslim labourers and their families are particularly vulnerable in Modi’s India, people have few places to turn even in the good times and are desperate now. Our supplier Tahla at Ahmad Brass has been providing food parcels, but as word got out he found himself quickly overwhelmed by the numbers arriving each day. Last week (23rd March) we stepped in and took over financing to keep pace with the increased demand, as the daily numbers passed the hundred mark.
We have worked with Tahla for many years and supported him with other charity projects. He has repurposed his factory into a food distribution point, purchasing from wholesalers and repackaging it into food parcels. Each package is enough to feed a family for 20 days and costs just £13.50. As it continues to grow we are asking you to please help us keep this going.
Bombay Duck will match all donations for as long as we possibly can throughout this time. Please help us to help these people. Please click here to donate.
With love to you, your families and friends, please stay safe!
