  • Oh to be in Thailand.....

Posted on May 10, 2013 by laura

It's hard to know where to start when talking about Thailand, which
(India aside) could definitely be the Bombay Duck spiritual home. We
have just returned from a trip to visit our lovely manufacturers and
start developments for our exciting new collections - watch this space!
To start with the taxis and even the buses are PINK! In fact, we would
go as far as to say they are Bombay Duck pink (Pantone 225 to be precise).
Thailand is a country with a smiley disposition, much like the Bombay
Duck team and products and their cheeriness is infectious.

We witnessed the New Year celebrations on our recent visit, where the
custom is to throw water on each other, one huge water fight, what fun!

The food is delicious. From lemongrass and coconut flavours to sweet
mangoes and pineapple. The street food is fresh and yummy.
Of course Bangkok is also a shoppers paradise, a serious pastime for
the Bombay Duck buying team (it's work of course!) Bangkok has so many
unique boutiques full of treasures. We love It Happened To Be A Closet
near Siam Paragon as well as the gorgeous collections from Ginger. The
famous weekend market is also great for finding all sorts of things
that you didn't know that you needed.
    Oh and it's [...]

  • Hong Kong Diary

Posted on May 10, 2013 by viktoria

We love Hong Kong! It is a real city with lots of energy. We were visiting our manufacturers to check out the new developments we have been working on. In between meetings and showroom visits, we explored and shopped. The shops in Hong Kong are like Aladdin's cave. You never know what you find and you can find some real gems. The highlight of the trip was taking the Star ferry across the water at dusk and watching the city lights light up. As we departed Hong Kong for Shanghai, we were already looking forward to our next visit.

  • Things that make us smile

Posted on February 26, 2013 by viktoria

Sometimes it's the small things in life that put smile on your face. Things that do not cost a lot of money and still make you very happy.

Like drinking tea from pretty candy coloured mugs

or having fun with our friends

    or smiling babies

  • Oh to be in India!

Posted on November 2, 2012 by viktoria

Oh, how we wish we could be in India next week. Our manufacturers will be celebrating Diwali, or Dipavali – the Hindu Festival of Lights. The name means literally ‘rows of lights’. According to legend, when Rama returned home from 14 years’ exile, having conquered the demon King Ravana, the people of Ayodhya lit the way for him with rows (avali) of clay oil lamps with string wicks (dipa). Also observed by Sikhs, Buddhists and Jains, Diwali is actually a five-day festival, including a spectacular day of fireworks, lamps and candles that represent the triumph of good (light) over evil (darkness). Rituals vary, but many people wear new clothes, share sweets and snacks, give presents and decorate their front doorsteps with brightly coloured sand.

In Bombay Duck we love spots! Small spots, large spots, colourfull spots we love them all. Spots are fun and cheerful! We have spots on our products, our boxes and even on the walls of our office. We are loving the latest Luis Vuitton collaboration with the Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama. Check out the spotty bags, shoes and dresses. J'adore!
